He’s in so much pain…. Please send well wishes our way; our little-big man Rufus was in an accident this am, and on top of having a broken wrist and potentially shoulder; has pulmonary contusions and the next 24 hours are critical. My heart is absolutely breaking. We are a bit torn over what to do immediately as we were told, per X-rays that indicated some fluid in his lungs, that he should be monitored for 24 hours by a service. I know my dog and I know he’s needy and right now he’s so traumatized - I air on the cautious side always but in this case my instinct is to keep him close to me and check his calms, pulse etc and should he begin to act erratic; take documents to 24 vet then rather than sequester him in a scary cold crate… he needs his humans and affirmation and a lot of hugs right now… help, someone tell me what to do? He will be disabled for 8 weeks and may require surgery but next 24 hours are important. Would love to have a vet on hand and an oxygen tank for a big puppy just in case… does anyone know of any in home vet services? He gets anxious as is and a foreign crate… it would scare him and I fear amplify his already wounded body.
