So a lot of people have asked or been curious regarding my gardening at night. Which is now curious to me, as it is something I very much enjoy at night and feels normal to me. I’m a night owl, to begin with, so I’m not justifying it just wondering if others do this. Essentially the benefits for me of doing this are multi-faceted: the oppressive day time heat is especially hard right now, though that’s temporary. Also I’m very hands on with the plants, pruning, watering by hand, so that I can saturate the roots and the moisture will retain longer and better than if subjected to the day time heat. Additionally, I like the head lamp thing, because I can hone in much more readily than in the daytime on specific plants when everything is in focus. I’ve been given the gift of light (no - really) by way of someone installing motion detection LED lights directly upon my garden. They are ambient but not overwhelmingly so. For some rock/wall building projects we also set up staging lights (big ugly things) but the light they provide on this very large dark starry property (look at the moon in this photo taken by @fegeefoto @ladyfegee!) is so magical, in these deep woods. Finally there are no dogs trailing me, they are very regimented sleepers - so this is why I garden at night. Basically a way to soothe insomnia that feels good. Does anyone else do this?
